The traditional company Friedrich Keim GmbH from Werdohl offers surface finishing for plastics for numerous industries, in particular the automotive industry. Customers include the VW Group, Mercedes, BMW and Porsche. As a result of the mixed economic situation combined with increasing crises in the automotive industry, Friedrich Keim GmbH had to file for bankruptcy at the end of last year. With an order dated 29.05.2024, the Hagen District Court opened insolvency proceedings. Hagen-based lawyer Thorsten Klepper was appointed insolvency administrator.
As a first step, the team led by lawyer Thorsten Klepper succeeded in stabilizing and continuing the business operations of Keim. In parallel, an investor process was initiated, which was managed by novaerion GmbH from Düsseldorf. With Restart AG from Zug, Switzerland, an investor has been identified who will continue Friedrich Keim GmbH as a branch of DKS Surface GmbH. The acquirer specializes in the acquisition and development of medium-sized manufacturing and service companies and, with the takeover, aims to achieve synergy effects and bundle know-how. It is very gratifying that almost the entire workforce is being taken over and remains employed in Werdohl.
Following the agreement with the investor group, Klepper said: “I and my team are delighted that we were able to generate a continuation solution for Friedrich Keim GmbH and saved the majority of jobs. The sale of a company with this sector focus and in the current overall economic picture of Germany is almost a miracle. ”
Dr. André Schröer, novaerion GmbH, adds: “In the current market environment, finding good transaction solutions for companies is a demanding task. We are all the more pleased to have successfully contributed to a good solution for all parties involved. We would like to thank the management and the insolvency administration for the good cooperation and wish the company and the acquirer every success in the future. ”
